Carlie Beck (she/her) is a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) with the
Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the
Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCC).
Carlie completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree through Yorkville University and previously attended
Saint Mary’s University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Carlie’s aim is to provide clients with a safe, non-judgemental space where they are free
to be themselves. A culturally sensitive and affirming approach is used for all individuals,
appreciating that they are the experts in their own lives. Carlie believes a strong therapeutic
relationship can help individuals foster the growth, acceptance, and change that individuals,
couples, and families are looking for.
Carlie works with individuals, couples, and families age 13 and above using a primarily
person-centred approach. Inclusion of other evidence-based approaches may include aspects from narrative therapy, strength-based, solution-focused brief therapy, acceptance and
commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and at times cognitive behavioural therapy.
Carlie adapts each approach to meet each client where they are at to collaboratively assist clients
in meeting their goals.
Carlie has participated in many certificate trainings such as Indigenous Canada through
the University of Alberta, Gottman Method Couples Therapy – Level 1, and various trainings in areas such as telecounselling, trauma, suicide-prevention, grief, working with children and
families, and microaggressions.
